The Devil’s Dossier

The late Sir Roger Moore, of 007 fame, had his take on the character he played for so many years. Moore is quoted as saying, “…the Bond situations are so ridiculous, so outrageous. I mean, this man is supposed to be a spy and yet, everybody knows he’s a spy…What kind of serious spy is recognized everywhere he goes?” True words because the very definition of a spy states that it’s a person who ‘secretly collects and reports information on the movements and activities of an enemy or competitor.’ There’s also a great truth for us to learn here. Our enemy the devil, like a good spy, does his best to remain incognito, but we are cautioned not to be ignorant of his devices (2 Cor.2:11).

Why do I refer to Satan as a spy? Because while there is no official handbook on demonic activities, at least from their point of view (except of course the Bible, which tells us all we actually need to know), I believe, in some kind of way, that the devil and his minions ‘compare notes’, with one another, so to speak, and compile a dossier, of sorts, on each one of God’s people. This dossier would include a compilation of our weaknesses, along with the sins that easily beset us and cause us to stumble or fall. It would also contain a list of our past sins; things long since under the blood of Jesus.

The enemy actually does use our past sins to indict a matter against us, which then have the potential to bring fear and intimidation into our lives; thereby rendering us virtually powerless to the kingdom of God. This is bad news. But here’s the good news: even though the enemy won’t let us forget our past, our God forgives and forgets our past sins, never to bring them up again against us (Isaiah.38:25; 43:25; Mic.7:19; He.8:12).

Now, the fact of an actual dossier kept on each of God’s children, may be pure speculation, but here is absolute truth that I do know: there is a very real devil, and he and his entire host of principalities, powers and rulers of darkness are out to silence, discredit every child of God who calls upon the powerful name of the Lord (Eph.6:12). They also seek to undermine every Spirit-anointed and God-ordained work or ministry.

Simply put, whatever dossier there may or may not be, the child of God is called to stand firm and not be moved by any enemy activities (1 Cor.15:58).We are keep the two-edged sword in our hand, while trusting in Christ and His cross, which ensures perpetual victory.

That’s the Word! Take it with you. God bless you.
